Night sky with a moon over mountains and a Korean tiled roof, golden stars above
M Y E O N G R I W O N

Did you know that hidden in
the day you were born
is your destiny?

The sky at the moment of your birth is written in eight Chinese characters. Myeongriwon reads those characters the traditional Korean way. We do not give personal readings. We only share the material so you can read your own chart.

CALCULATOR

Your Four Pillars

Enter your birth date and time. You will get your four pillars, your Five Element balance, and a note on your Day Master.

READING ORDER

How to read a chart

1. Find yourself in the Day Master

The top character of the day pillar is you. Which of the ten Day Masters you are — from Gap Wood to Gye Water — is where every reading begins.

2. Count the Five Elements

Look at how Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water are spread across your eight characters. What you have a lot of, and what you are missing, shapes your character and your life.

3. Check the season of your birth month

The month decides whether your Day Master is supported or held back. The same Day Master reads very differently in a different season. This is the heart of traditional Saju.

GOOD TO KNOW

Common questions

Q.Can I book a personal reading?

No. Myeongriwon does not give readings. It is an archive that publishes guides and charts so you can read your own.

Q.Do you mix in astrology?

Saju is read as Saju, and astrology as astrology. Your star sign never enters the chart reading. If you want it, you can open the optional 'Western star sign' note below your chart.

Q.What if I don't know my birth time?

You can leave the hour out and read the three remaining pillars. The free basics guide explains how to work without an hour pillar.

Q.Will the material stay free?

Everything is free for a limited time right now. Even after some items become paid, the first three items in the library stay free.

Q.How accurate is the calculator?

Solar term changeover dates are calculated approximately, so a birth on a border day (around the 4th to 8th of a month, or early February) can be off by one day. Please check against a precise almanac.
